Tai’s practice explores the relationship between objects, space, and everyday life. Through installation, painting objects, and found materials, he treats artworks not as images but as spatial entities, emphasizing perception, arrangement, and the exhibition as an active, evolving process.

Self-portrait of a Canvas

Self-portrait of a Canvas, Gel transfer print, pencil, canvas, 27 x 19cm, 2024
The canvas on the easel appears in a purely blank state, bearing no imagery — it stands as a subject in itself.

In this work, the easel and canvas hold essential roles, becoming a form of "painting within a painting." Their presence directs the viewer's attention to the canvas itself, highlighting the relationship between the "support" and the "medium of painting."
